The Geneva Historical
& Genealogical Society, Inc.
Beginnings:The Geneva Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc. is located in the Village of Geneva, a small, un-incorporated, rural area of Seminole County in the state of Florida. The Society is a non-profit, tax exempt, charitable organization.
Fortunately, for all who call Geneva "home", the descendants of the pioneer families saw the need and felt the desire to form a society whose purpose would be to preserve not only the artifacts but the traditions and the very quality of life in Geneva. On Sunday, November 30, 1952 the first regular meeting of the Society was held at the Geneva Community Center. Presiding, as president, was Mrs. Alice Coffee Guyton, who was herself a member of one of Geneva’s first families and who was instrumental in the formation of the Society. 50th Anniversary May Day Photos

The Society maintains a small but historically important and significant museum, the Museum of Geneva History. In addition, we own and maintain for public use Fort Lane Park on the west shore of Lake Harney, a former Military Fort during the Second Seminole Indian War. We also provide perpetual care of the Geneva Cemetery in cooperation with the Geneva Cemetery trustees
Membership:
The work of the Society is never done and requires continued interest and constant attention. We invite anyone who shares our interests and goals to become a member and join us in preserving and promoting the heritage of our community. Membership Information.
Operation:
The Society depends entirely upon the voluntary efforts of our members for our operating expenses. We have no paid employees and operate with a volunteer Board of Directors and dedicated Committee Chairmen. In addition to modest annual membership dues; we accept donations for our T-shirts, postcards, note cards and historical writings; and hold periodic events such as a Cemetery Tour and historical programs such as Turpentine Farming and Steamboating on the St Johns River.
If you enjoy browsing through our web site, find something of interest to your family, or otherwise wish to help us preserve our small town history, please consider making a donation of any amount to the Society. Gifts can also be given for a specific items or made in memory of a loved one. All donations are tax deductible. They can be mailed to Geneva Historical & Genealogical Society, P.O.
